Six parks and green spaces in Cannock Chase have retained their Green Flag Award status for 2026/27, Cannock Chase District Council has announced.

Cannock Park, Castle Ring, Elmore Park, Hednesford Park, Ravenhill Park and Stile Cop Cemetery all successfully retained the awards. Castle Ring has additionally achieved the Green Heritage Site Accreditation for the management and promotion of its historic features.

Record-Breaking Year for Green Flag Awards

The recognition comes as the Green Flag Award scheme marks its 30th anniversary. The scheme is internationally recognised and sets the benchmark for the management of parks and green spaces across the UK and beyond.

A record-breaking 2,391 locations across the UK received the award this year. The Cannock Chase sites' achievement reflects the work of the Council's parks and grounds teams, who maintain these spaces year-round to keep them safe, welcoming and well maintained.

Council Praise for Parks Teams

Councillor John Parkes, Operational Services and Parks Portfolio Leader, said: "We are delighted that all six of our sites have once again achieved Green Flag Award status. These awards are a reflection of the dedication and hard work of our parks and grounds maintenance teams, volunteers and community groups who help us keep these spaces looking their best throughout the year."

He added that parks and green spaces play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of residents by providing places to relax, exercise and connect with nature.
