Highway crews will begin extensive improvement works at Pye Green Road crossroads in Cannock from 1 September. The £550,000 scheme will last six weeks and involve replacing the existing carriageway surface and repairing ironworks across the junction from Prince Street to Robson Close.

The works will cover Limepit Lane to Seabury Drive and Belt Road to the junction of Holly Street.

Two-Phase Approach

The first phase, running until Tuesday 22 September, will see temporary traffic lights in operation between 7.30am and 5pm. During the second phase, the carriageway will be closed entirely.

A signed diversion route will be in place during the road closures. Access to driveways will be maintained throughout the works.

Bus Services and Travel Disruption

Bus stops along the sections of road undergoing improvements will be suspended during the road closures.

Peter Mason, Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways at Staffordshire County Council, said: "This section of road is in need of upgrading and this scheme will do just that. With the resurfacing and ironworks repairs, drivers can expect far smoother journeys on the crossroads once the works are done."
