Cannock Chase residents can discover the hidden world of insects with new free Story Walks launching across four local parks this June. From 22 June, families visiting Cannock Park, Hednesford Park, Elmore Park and Ravenhill Park will find 10 hidden QR codes on each trail. Scanning the codes unlocks insect facts, mini activities and challenges designed to teach children about the bugs that support our environment.

The Story Walks are part of Insect Week activities being run by Cannock Council to encourage families outdoors during the school holidays. Each trail takes visitors around their chosen park, combining exercise with environmental education. Everyone who completes a trail receives a free activity book to take home as a souvenir of their bug-hunting adventure.

The trails are accessed through the Cannock Chase Can App and will remain live until 27 July, giving families nearly two months to explore at their own pace. Councillor John Parkes said the initiative offers "a fantastic opportunity for families to get outside, explore our beautiful parks and learn more about the insects that play such an important part in our environment."

Parents and children looking for free outdoor activities in Cannock this summer now have a unique way to spend time together while learning about local wildlife. The four parks offer varied settings for exploration, making it easy for families across the Cannock Chase area to join in.
