A new guide has linked 20 pubs along the Chase Line and an optional extension to Aldridge, encouraging visitors to explore local towns using public transport.

Scott Spencer, from Micropub Adventures, has put together the Chase Line Ale Trail covering Rugeley, Hednesford, Cannock, Landywood, Bloxwich and Walsall.

The freely available guide brings together traditional pubs, micropubs and a brewery tap, alongside opening information, travel details and local history.

A flexible route, not a drinking challenge

Spencer says the trail is not intended as a challenge to visit all 20 pubs in one outing. People can choose a short section or use the guide to plan several separate visits.

The main rail-based route features 17 venues, with three more included through the optional bus extension into Aldridge.

The guide is designed to introduce visitors to places along the railway as well as the pubs themselves, with background about the different areas and practical information to help plan a visit.

Exploring towns along the Chase Line

Spencer hopes it will interest residents of the towns on the route and people travelling from surrounding places, including Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Wolverhampton, Lichfield and Tamworth.

He is also inviting suggestions about places that could be considered for the guide or information that could be improved.

Visitors should check current train and bus services and individual opening times before travelling. The route can be explored in sections, and public transport removes the need to drive between venues.

The complete route and venue information are available in the Chase Line Ale Trail guide from Micropub Adventures.
