A Hednesford man has been ordered to pay a total of £788 after breaching a Public Spaces Protection Order in Cannock town centre, according to Cannock Chase District Council.

The council says the 45-year-old was found consuming alcohol in Market Place on 10 October 2025, when alcohol-related restrictions were in place under the order.

Following council enforcement action, the case was heard through the Single Justice Procedure at Staffordshire Magistrates Court earlier this month. The defendant was found guilty, the authority said.

Fine, surcharge and costs

The court ordered him to pay a £100 fine, an £88 victim surcharge and £600 in prosecution costs, making a total of £788.

The council’s release did not name the man.

Councillor Georgina Jeffery, Portfolio Leader for Community Safety and Wellbeing, said: “We will continue to take action against those who fail to comply with these restrictions.”

The authority says it works with partners, including Staffordshire Police, to enforce the order and address anti-social behaviour.
