Staffordshire County Council's highways crews will carry out repair works to the Church Street and Old Hednesford Road roundabout in Cannock on 21, 22 and 23 October between 9.30am and 3pm.
The works will include patching to anti-skid areas on the approach to the roundabout and complete ironwork repairs to the gullies located on the island. Repairs will be carried out in stages to allow the roundabout to remain open throughout, maintaining access to nearby shops and businesses.
Further works planned
Additional screeding works to fix defects will be carried out via an overnight closure at a later date. A specific date for these overnight works has not yet been scheduled.
Why phased repairs are necessary
Roundabouts require more careful planning to repair than regular roads because traffic arrives from multiple directions simultaneously and they often serve as key routes that must remain open. This means crews typically work on one part of the roundabout at a time.
Dan Cecil, Staffordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways South, said: "Roundabouts can be a lot trickier to repair, and need much more careful planning to minimise disruption. Church Street, because of its location as a main route into Cannock and to the A34, has had to be very carefully planned to ensure we can make the most of the works, but minimise inconvenience to motorists and residents."
