A songwriter originally from Cannock says lyrics he wrote as a teenager have become the basis of a fictional pop and R&B group.
Craig Raybould, who now lives in London, created Certain Call using his own lyrics alongside AI-generated music, vocals and visuals that he then edits and develops.
The project features four fictional members, Tahlia, Sierra, Maya and Imani. Raybould says he openly identifies them as fictional characters rather than human performers.
From floppy disks to music videos
He says his early songs were inspired by groups including Destiny’s Child, Spice Girls, Sugababes and All Saints, and that he saved the lyrics on floppy disks.
In a follow-up, Raybould described his local background at Hatherton Croft and Cannock Chase High School. He supplied a photograph of the disks and an official YouTube channel for the project.
