Cannock Chase Council is asking residents for their views on new dog control measures across the district. The proposals aim to keep parks, streets and open spaces clean and safe for everyone, including both dog owners and non-owners.

The new rules for Cannock would require dog owners to pick up after their pets and carry bags for dog waste. Dogs would need to be kept on leads near roads, and owners would be limited to walking no more than six dogs at a time. Dogs would be banned from children's play areas and tennis courts.

Council officers and police would have the power to enforce these rules on the spot across Cannock. Deputy Leader Councillor Richard Craddock said the proposals strike a balance between supporting responsible dog ownership and protecting shared public areas.

Residents can have their say on the Cannock dog control proposals online at www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/dogcontrol. The consultation period runs until 24 June 2026, giving dog owners and park users time to share their views with the council.
