Three long-serving councillors have been honoured for their outstanding dedication to Cannock Chase District Council. Les Bullock, Justin Johnson and Sheila Cartwright were made honorary Aldermen and Alderwoman in recognition of their combined 45 years of service. The unanimous decision was made at a special council meeting on Wednesday 20 May.
Les Bullock served 16 years across two separate spells beginning in 1996, serving on various committees throughout his time at Cannock Chase. Sheila Cartwright also gave 16 years of service starting from 2010 and held the role of Planning Committee chair among other responsibilities. Justin Johnson contributed 14 years from 2012, including a spell as Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change.
Their contributions were praised by fellow councillors at Cannock Chase. Councillor Tony Johnson described Les as a "safe pair of hands", while Councillor Olivia Lyons said Justin had made "a genuine difference" to the organisation and wider community. Sheila was recognised for work that had "held a community together".
The three councillors will receive certificates of recognition at Cannock Chase District Council's full meeting in July. Their honouring as aldermen marks a significant milestone in local government recognition and celebrates their long-term commitment to serving residents across the district.
