Cannock Chase District Council is inviting families to a free community event on Monday 20 July to celebrate the official opening of the new Cannock Park Heritage Trail. The event runs from 1pm to 3pm in Cannock Park and marks a major step in the ongoing redevelopment of the park's facilities and visitor experience.
Three Interactive Routes to Explore
The trail includes three interactive routes. The Tree Trail uses QR codes to teach visitors about the park's trees. Hear Our Heritage is an audio trail sharing stories about the park's past. The Cannock Park Tales Trail features animations and poetry created by local artists Jennie Moore and Pep the Poet working alongside students from Hednesford Valley High, Chaselea Alternative Provision Academy, St Luke's Primary School and Sherbrook Primary School.
All three trails can be completed as challenges through the Cannock Chase Can app, allowing families to collect codes and earn rewards.
What to Expect at the Launch Event
The launch event will feature free activities for children and families, including creative sessions from the local artists and sporting activities.
Councillor John Parkes said the new trails bring the park's heritage and natural environment to life in a fresh and exciting way.
