Cannock Chase Council has been shortlisted for two major planning awards following recognition from the Royal Town Planning Institute. The Council's Planning Service is nominated for Planning Authority of the Year, while Grace Lockley, a senior planner, is in contention for Young Planner of the Year. Winners will be announced on 23 July 2026.
The double shortlisting recognises significant achievements by Cannock's planning team over recent years. The Council adopted its new Local Plan in March 2026 and continues to meet national targets for processing planning decisions. Major projects backed by Cannock Chase Council include the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet expansion and the Rugeley Power Station regeneration scheme.
Grace Lockley joined the Council in 2019 and has become a rising star within the planning service. She led the Local Plan through its examination process and now runs the Planning Policy team at Cannock Chase Council. Her work has been instrumental in shaping the area's planning direction.
Councillor Paul Jones said the nominations reflect "the dedication and professionalism of our Planning Service". The recognition highlights how Cannock Chase Council's planning team continues to deliver results for the local area and support major regeneration efforts across the district.
